Zambia’s
reggae ambassador Maiko Zulu yesterday gave lessons on the
history of Reggae to grade 8 pupils at the SOS Children’s
Village in Lusaka.
Maiko became
the first artiste to be accorded the hourner of teaching
Reggae as part of the school’s curriculum.
Maiko took
time to tour the school before commencing the 2-hour lesson,
which left the pupils wanting more of the “Ganja Convict”.
SOS
Children’s Village School is situated a few kilometres north
of Lusaka and has over 1000 mainly vulnerable pupils coming
from the surrounding areas.
And speaking
to a Muvi TV reporter after the session, Maiko said he was
deeply humbled by the gesture accorded to him by the school
administration. Several pupils, teachers and members of
staff took turns to get pictures with Maiko, who was
accompanied by female celebrity and wife Sista D. The duo
have in the past toured various schools and youth centres in
a bid to promote children’s rights in Zambia. |
